Disclaimer

Last updated: 20th August 2026

Unbroken Pride provides educational, reflective, and self-help resources for LGBTQ+ adults. Please read this disclaimer carefully before using any Unbroken Pride materials.

By purchasing, downloading, accessing, or using Unbroken Pride guides, companions, journals, or related content, you acknowledge and agree to the following.

Not therapy or clinical treatment

Unbroken Pride is not:

  • psychotherapy
  • counselling
  • medical advice
  • crisis intervention
  • a diagnostic tool
  • a substitute for professional care

The materials are educational and self-guided. They are designed to support personal reflection, pride, and self-empowerment. They do not replace working with a qualified professional.

If you need therapeutic, medical, or crisis support, please contact an appropriate service in your area.

No therapist–client relationship

Use of Unbroken Pride materials does not create a therapist–client, clinician–patient, or professional advisory relationship with Joey Prism or Unbroken Pride.

No personalised clinical assessment, treatment plan, or therapeutic service is provided through these resources.

Individual results vary

People respond differently to reflective and self-help work.

Some readers may find the materials steadying and useful. Others may find that certain sections bring up difficult emotions, memories, or body responses. That does not mean you are doing anything wrong. It does mean pacing and support matter.

Unbroken Pride makes no guarantee of specific psychological, emotional, relational, or life outcomes.

Emotional activation and pacing

Working with experiences related to family rejection, identity-based harm, shame, grief, or minority stress can be activating.

You are encouraged to:

  • move at your own pace
  • pause when needed
  • use grounding and safety tools
  • skip material that feels overwhelming
  • seek support if distress increases

You are the expert on your limits. Listen to them.

Not a replacement for medication or clinical care

Unbroken Pride materials do not replace:

  • prescribed medication
  • psychiatric care
  • psychological treatment
  • medical assessment
  • any existing care plan

Do not change or stop prescribed treatment because of anything in these resources without guidance from your treating professional.

Identity-affirming position

Unbroken Pride is based on the position that LGBTQ+ identities are valid, natural, and not inherently pathological.

The materials are written to support pride, self-trust, and recovery from harm – not to question or “correct” identity.

Educational scope

The series draws on general evidence-informed principles, including cognitive reframing, trauma-informed practice, and LGBTQIA+-affirmative strategies, adapted for gentle self-guided use.

All tools and exercises are original adaptations created for this series. Unbroken Pride is an independent project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or derived from any specific branded therapy model or organisation.

Your responsibility

By using Unbroken Pride materials, you accept responsibility for:

  • how you engage with the content
  • your pacing and limits
  • seeking additional support when needed
  • decisions you make based on your own reflection

You agree that you are using these resources voluntarily and at your own discretion.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Joey Prism and Unbroken Pride are not liable for any loss, damage, or adverse outcome arising from use of, or reliance on, the materials.

Nothing in this disclaimer excludes rights that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.

External supports

Where the materials mention organisations, hotlines, or external resources, these are provided for general information only. Availability, quality, and suitability may vary. We are not responsible for third-party services.

In short

Unbroken Pride is here as a supportive companion for reflection and pride-based self-work.

It is not therapy. It is not crisis care. It is not a promise of a particular outcome.

Use what helps. Pause when you need to. Reach for professional or community support when the work asks more than a book can hold.

Your identity is not the problem. It never was.
